Transforming Dantewada: ‘Kaushalya Matritva Yojana’ honouring Motherhood

Raipur: Motherhood is one of the most challenging responsibilities for women. After bringing a new life into the world, every mother faces numerous challenges in raising and handling children while managing household chores. The Chhattisgarh government has launched the ‘Kaushalya Matritva Yojana’ to support such mothers. This women-centric scheme aims to ensure financial security and honor women giving birth to a daughter by providing an incentive of Rs 5000 for the second-time birth of a daughter.
Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel started this scheme on March 1, 2021 to improve the livelihood of women giving birth to daughters in the state and encourage the birth of daughters. The scheme has been very beneficial for financially weaker families who have utilized the incentive to take good care of their newborn daughter. Anganwadi workers have helped beneficiaries like Lakshmi Pati Bhaman from Fulpad village and Bhime Pati Bhima from Junapara to receive benefits.
The objective of the state government is not limited to improving the livelihood of underprivileged women but also to prevent social evils like discrimination between sons and daughters.
