Chhattisgarh’s Unemployment Allowance Scheme: More than 41,465 applicants approved in just 24 days

Raipur: Chief minister Bhupesh Baghel launched the “Unemployment Allowance Scheme” on April 1 this year. The ambitious scheme of the state government has sparked excitement among the unemployed youth who are enthusiastic about benefiting from it. Within just 24 days, over 41,465 applicants received approval for the allowance. The scheme has received 1,17,074 applications on the unemployment allowance portal, and 63,908 of these have been recommended for approval after document verification.
As per the announcement chief minister’s announcement, the unemployment allowance of Rs 2,500 is being directly transferred to the bank accounts of applicants through DBT. The scheme aims to provide a monthly allowance of Rs 2,500 to unemployed individuals in the state, along with skill training to enhance their employability.
Meanwhile, soon after the inception of the scheme, a total of 4,269 registrations were already received on the portal by 5 pm on the first day. Youth have expressed that unemployment benefits will prove to be a crucial support system in alleviating financial hardships along their career journey, providing much-needed relief during challenging times. During the launch event of the scheme, the beneficiaries who received approval orders for the unemployment allowance from the chief minister appeared extremely pleased. One of them applied for the allowance on April 1 itself, and the application was approved on the same day.
In comparison to the previously implemented Unemployment Allowance Scheme, the current scheme has been much more successful. In 2015, when the Unemployment Allowance Scheme was discontinued, only a maximum of 22,000 applicants were approved for the allowance, whereas under the new scheme, more than 41,465 applicants have already been approved for the allowance within the first 24 days of its commencement.
The highest number of 7,691applications have been registered in Balod district, followed by Durg district 7,495, Raipur district 6,043, Bilaspur district 5,977, Janjgir-Champa district 5,556, Dhamtari district 5,511, Kabirdham district 4,775, Kanker district 3,420, Surguja district 2,519, Mohla-Manpur-Ambagarh Chowki district 1,013, Raigarh district 2,055, Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi district 940, Koriya district 898, Dantewada district 641, Narayanpur district 403, Kondagaon district 2,051, Bijapur district 441, Khairagarh-Chhuikhadan-Gandai district 1,403, Bastar district 2,071, Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur district 929, Mungeli district 4,589, Jashpur district 2,229, Gariaband district 3,096, Balodabazar district 4,119, Mahasamund district 4,482, Rajnandgaon district 4,303, Bemetara district 3,950, Sukma district 582, Surajpur district 2,387, Sarangarh-Bilaigarh district 2,871, and 2,446 applications received so far in Korba district.
The portal for the unemployment allowance scheme has been launched for applicants from April 1 this year. Since the first day, a large number of applications are already being received on the portal. Applicants are finding it very easy to apply through the portal and are uploading all the necessary documents without any inconvenience. They have reported no issues while completing this task. There is no deadline for applying for the unemployment allowance scheme, and neither has the opening or closing time of the portal been determined. The portal is open 24 hours a day for all days, and applicants can apply on this portal anytime according to their convenience.
Eligibility:
To receive unemployment benefits, the applicant must meet the specified criteria and conditions. The applicant must be a resident of Chhattisgarh and between the ages of 18-35 as on April 1 of the year of application, having a minimum qualification of higher secondary education (12th grade) from a recognized board. The applicant must be registered with the District Employment and Self-Employment Guidance Center and their registration for employment should be at least two years old as of April 1 this year. The applicant should not have any source of income and their family’s annual income must not exceed Rs 2.5 lakh. The family refers to the applicant’s spouse, dependent children, and dependent parents. An income certificate issued by Tehsildar or higher revenue officer for family income should be made within 1 year from the date of application for unemployment allowance.
