Kushabhau Thakre University VC’s appointment challenged in High Court over academic qualifications

Raipur: Chhattisgarh High Court has issued a notice to the state government, university officials, and the appointed vice-chancellor, Baldev Bhai Sharma, over the appointment of the vice-chancellor at Chhattisgarh’s Kushabhau Thakre University of Journalism and Mass Communication. 

According to a petition, it has been revealed that as per information gathered filed under the Right to Information Act the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Baldev Bhai Sharma, lacks both academic qualifications and academic experience. Senior professor of the University, Dr. Shahid Ali has filed the petition in the High Court, stating that the appointment violates mandatory provisions of the UGC regulations of 2018. The petition seeks to cancel his appointment. 

The next hearing in the case will take place in four weeks.
