Chhattisgarh Assembly orders probe into Bilaspur sewage accidents, directs officials to ensure safety measures

Raipur: Once again, the issue of Bilaspur sewage was raised in the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly today. During zero hour, MLAs Dharmjeet Singh and Shailesh Pandey raised the issue. The leaders said that the Bilaspur sewage system has become a mess, and accidents continue to occur due to it. Just a few days ago, a 17-year-old boy died after falling into a sewage pit that had been dug up. MLA Dharmjeet Singh demanded that proper safety measures be taken wherever sewage pits are dug up. He also demanded action against officials in charge, along with directives to the collector and commissioner to ensure safety measures are put in place around sewage pits.

Bilaspur MLA, Shailendra Pandey, has said that accidents keep happening in Bilaspur every day due to sewage. Many people have already died due to sewage in Bilaspur. MLA Pandey has demanded action against the guilty officers in this case, while demanding compensation of 1 million rupees for the victim’s family after the death of a 17-year-old boy a few days ago. Pandey said that the sewage project in Bilaspur has completely failed. Testing has not been completed yet. Pits have been dug in the name of sewage in many places, which is why accidents keep happening every day. He expressed grief over the death of the 17-year-old boy a few days ago.

Demanding an investigation into the incident and action against officials and contractors, Chhattisgarh Assembly Speaker Charan Das Mahant directed an inquiry, after which Minister Ravindra Choubey announced an investigation into the matter.

The Assembly Speaker instructed the departmental minister to take cognizance of the matter, after which Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ravindra Choubey announced the investigation. It should be noted that a child named Aditya Vaishnav died due to drowning in the sewage in Torwa, Bilaspur.
