Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel presents Rs15,200 crore deficit budget for 2023-24

No new tax in state budget; Rs 250 crore provisioned for unemployment allowance

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, who also holds the finance portfolio, tabled the last budget of the current government announcing no new tax for the people of Chhattisgarh. In yet another major announcement, he said that a light metro service will be started from Nava Raipur to Durg. Rs 250 crore has been provisioned for Unemployment allowance in the budget.

The chief minister presented Rs 15,200 croredeficit budget. Total income estimated ar Rs1,21,501 crore while expenditure was estimated at Rs 1,21,500 crore in the budget 2023-24.  The 2022-23, the government had tabled a deficit budget of Rs 14,600 crore with estimated income of Rs 1,04,000 crore against an estimated expenditure of Rs 1,04,000 crore.

The revenue expenditure in the budget 2023-24 has been estimated as Rs 18,660 crore as compared to Rs 15,241 crore in the last year 

Baghel  said that those, whose family’s annual income is less than 2.5 lakh, will be given unemployment allowance of Rs 2500 for two years. The destitute pension amount will be increased from 350 to 500 rupees. The monthly honorarium of Anganwadi workers has been increased from 6.5 thousand to 10 thousand. The honorarium of the assistant has been increased by 3.5 to 5 thousand. 

Rs 19 thousand 489 crore has been provisioned for school education department, Rs 870 croresfor Atmanand English Medium School, Rs 1380 crores for Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, Rs 681 crorerupees for construction for Prime Minister Nutrition Power, Rs 60 crores for Higher Education Campaign, Rs 10 thousand 329 crorerupees for Panchayat and Rural Development Department. Similarly, Pradhan Mantri AwasYojana will have provision of Rs 3238 crorerupees, Pradhan Mantri Sadak Yojana Rs 789 crore, National Rural Livelihood Mission Rs494 crore, Chief Minister Chhattisgarhi ParabSamman Nidhi Rs 5 crore,  Rs 1902 croreprovisioned for MNREGA, Chief Minister Village and Road Scheme has provision of Rs319 crore, Swachh Bharat Mission Rs 400 Crore, Rural Industrial Park Rs 149 crore,.

Rs 10 thousand 70 crore has been provisioned for agriculture sector, Rs 6800 crore for Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana, Rs 575 crore for Crop Insurance Scheme, Rs 205 crore for horticulture scheme, Rs 200 fore for ChiragYojana, Rs 175 crore for Godhan Nyay Yojanaand Rs 187 crore for national agriculture development scheme.

Bonus of Rs 60 crore provisioned for sugarcane producing farmers, a centre of excellence will come up in Nava Raipur for Rs 1.51 crore.

Major announcements of the Government of Chhattisgarh

Provision of 180 crores for state roads.

Provision of 50 crores for construction of railway overbridges.

Two crore for the new Jungle Safari in Kabirdham, 11 crore for upgrading the Jungle Safari of Nava Raipur.

Mukhyamantri Vriksha Sampada Yojana has sprovision of 100 crores.

Kaushalya Samriddhi Yojana will be launched.

Provision of 3 thousand 2 hundred 38 croreunder rural housing scheme.

Provision of 500 crores for roads.

Rs 5 crore approval for setting up mobile medical unit in remote areas

Approval of 2 thousand crores to deliver clean water

Medical colleges will come up in Gidam and Manendragarh.

6 thousand 800 crores approved for Kisan NyayYojana.

Chief Minister Kanya Daan Sahayata Yojanaamount increased from 25 thousand to 50 thousand.

101 new Swami Atmanand English Medium Schools will be opened.

New Medical College will be built in Manendragarh, Janjgir-Champa, Kabirdham.

Provision for construction of a new airstrip in Baikunthpur, commercial airstrip at Korba.

Sports Academy will be established in Jhiram.

The State Research Fellow Scheme will be launched.

There will be a Commissible Hub installed in Nawa Raipur. Provision of 5 crores

There was a provision of 9 thousand 270 crorerupees in the last budget of the first government of Congress. This was 35% more than the previous budget.
