Nearly 98 lakh metric tonnes of paddy lifted for custom milling

Raipur: After procuring paddy from farmers at the support price in the state, millers are now rapidly lifting it for custom milling. So far, 98 lakh metric tonnes of paddy have been lifted, with DOs issued for lifting of 103 lakh metric tonnes of paddy. Paddy lifting is going on continuously under the guidance of the district administration. This year more than 107 lakh metric tonnes of paddy has been procured at support price from the farmers of the state.
Following the initiative of chief minister Bhupesh Baghel last year, the lifting of paddy has again been started from procurement centers for custom milling this year, which has resulted in a significant reduction in transportation expenditure for the state government. Along with this, the lengthy process of paddy lifting after procurement of paddy has also been shortened. Till January 31, 2023, 107.53 lakh metric tonnes of paddy has been procured by the state government from more than 23 lakh 82 thousand farmers. About Rs 22, 067 crore has been released by Markfed to Apex Bank under the bank linking arrangement for payment to the farmers in lieu of paddy procurement. Out of the total paddy procured so far, DO has been issued for lifting of more than 103 lakh metric tonnes of paddy for custom milling. Against this, more than 98 lakh metric tonnes of paddy has been lifted by the millers.
