National Deworming Day to be observed on February 10

Raipur: National Deworming Day will be observed in the state on February 10 next year. Infant Protection Month is to be observed from February 28 to March 31 upcoming year, in the state for better health care of babies. A meeting of the State Level Steering Committee was held in Mantralaya today under the chairmanship of health secretary Prasanna R. He gave the necessary guidelines regarding both campaigns. He instructed the officials of the Health Department and other departments present in the meeting to achieve a 100 percent target in both campaigns.
The outline and effective implementation of both events were discussed in the State-Level Steering Committee meeting. During National Deworming Day, deworming medicine will be provided to all children and teenagers in the state from one year to 19 years of age. Children will be provided deworming medicine in Anganwadis, government schools, health care centers, aided private schools, and technical education institutions.
During the infant protection month from February 28 to March 31, IFA syrup will be provided to children below five years of age i.e. from 6 months to 59 months and Vitamin ‘A’ will be given to children from nine months to 59 months. It is necessary to give vitamin ‘A’ and IFA syrup along with anthelmintic medicine to children and adolescents for good health, better nutrition, access to regular education and to increase quality of life.
