2 Injured in Separate Maoist IED Blasts in Usur

Raipur: Two teenagers were injured in separate Maoist-planted pressure IED blasts in the Usur police station area of Bijapur district on Wednesday.

In the first incident, a group of seven to eight youths from Karigundam village in Sukma district was on its way to Neelam Sarai Waterfall when 13-year-old Sodhi Deva stepped on a pressure IED about 1.5 km before the waterfall. The blast injured his right heel. He was given primary treatment at the Usur Community Health Centre and later referred to the District Hospital, where his condition is stable.

In the second incident, two residents of Nambi village were grazing cattle near the Nambi stream when 15-year-old Vinod Kattam stepped on a pressure IED in the forest, injuring his right heel. Heavy rains flooded a local stream along the approach route, disrupting movement. Security personnel launched a rescue operation to evacuate the injured teenager.
