Korba district ranks first in the state in timely wage payment

Korba: Korba district has led the state in timely payment of compensation for work done under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act. So far this year, 99.72 per cent of Fund Transfer Orders (FTO) have been issued within the district’s time limit for wage payment. Wages totaling Rs 90.99 crore have been paid into the accounts of workers in the district so far in the financial year 2022-23.
Collector Sanjeev Jha is conducting continuous evaluation and monitoring of MNREGA, as a result of which Korba district ranks first in the state in terms of timely payment of payments. He previously instructed the Chief Executive Officer and Program Officer of all Zila Panchayats to submit cash transfer orders within 8 days of the closure of the muster roll in order to ensure 100 per cent timely wage payment in MGNREGA works.
Zila panchayat Korba CEO Nutan Kanwar said that in this financial year 2022-23, 99.92 per cent in Zila panchayat Korba, 99.9 per cent in Kartla, 98.9 per cent in Katghora, 99.61 per cent in Pali and 99.84 per cent in Zila Panchayat Podi Uproda F.T.O. has been issued within a specified time frame.
As per the demand in the district, labour-oriented works are being made available to a maximum number of labourers, so that the villagers can get more employment opportunities, Nutan added.
