Raipur. Health Minister T.S. Singhdeo today attended the meeting of the General Assembly and Managing Committee of Chhattisgarh State AIDS Control Committee and Chhattisgarh State Blood Transmission Council. In a meeting held at his residence office on Civil Lines, the Health Minister reviewed the work of the National AIDS Control Program and the State Blood Transfusion Council. He asked the youth to motivate them for voluntary blood donation. The Health Minister asked for regular blood donation camps through NSS and NCC in universities and colleges. He also spoke about the need for awareness programs to remove the misconceptions related to blood donation.

 

Director, Health Services and Project Director of State AIDS Control Committee, Neeraj Bansod, informed that, at present, 95 blood banks are operating in the state. Of these, 31 are in government hospitals and 64 in the private sector. Every year two lakh 55 thousand units of blood are required in the state. More than two lakh units of blood are collected annually through blood banks in both the government and private sectors. The daily storage capacity of these blood banks is 18 thousand 050 units.

 

Effective regulation of private and government blood banks was also discussed in the meeting of the General Assembly and the Managing Committee of the State AIDS Control Committee, and the State Blood Transmission Council. Health Minister T.S. Singhdeo instructed to provide free blood to the volunteers who have donated blood anywhere in the state if needed. The meeting also approved the budget approved by NACO for the current financial year 2021-22. TS Singhdeo asked the State AIDS Control Committee and the State Blood Transfusion Council to fully use the allocated budget as per the prescribed action plan.

He was present in the meeting of the General Assembly and the Managing Committee of the AIDS Control Committee, and the State Blood Transfusion Council.
