Surajpur: Panchayat and Rural Development Minister T S Singhdeo, and School Education and Cooperation Minister Dr. Premsai Singh Tekam on Tuesday inaugurated the sugarcane crushing work at Maa Mahamaya Cooperative Sugar Factory, located in village Kerta, Pratappur block of Surajpur district for 2021-22. Parliamentary Secretary Parasnath Rajwade was also present on the occasion.

Addressing the programme, Singhdeo said that the state government has fixed the rate of sugarcane at Rs 355 per quintal. He said that farmers need to take alternate crops to strengthen their economic condition. Singhdeo said that for the supply of sugarcane in the sugar factory, farmers can take advantage by producing it in large numbers in their fields.

With the establishment of the factory, the standard of living of the sugarcane growing farmers of the area has improved, Minister said, adding employment has been generated for about 300-400 laborers.

A detailed project report has been prepared by Basantdada Sugar Institute, Pune for setting up 20 KLPD Ethanol Plant in the factory. The proposal has been approved by the state government, due to which additional profit will be earned in the income of the institution. 2 crore 2 lakh has been approved as capital share from the state government for setting up a 6 MW co-generation power plant in the factory. Bhoomipujan of new permanent sugar warehouse construction of 20 thousand metric tons and construction of 5 thousand metric tons of molasses tank in the factory has been done by Dr. Premsai Singh Tekam.

In the sugarcane crushing season 2020-21, a target was set to crush 3 lakh metric tonnes of sugarcane from 8689.846 hectares of sugarcane area in 15 blocks of Surguja, Surajpur, and Balrampur districts. Against which a total of 2 lakh 2 thousand 617 metric tonnes of sugarcane was procured from 10,600 sugarcane growers.

On the purchase of sugarcane at the rate of Rs 270.75 per quintal, the amount of Rs 54 crore 86 lakh has been paid through the bank accounts of the farmers. The sugarcane bonus amounting to Rs 12 crore 18 lakh 7 thousand 422 has been paid to the farmers by the state government.

In the sugarcane crushing season 2021-22, an estimated target of crushing three lakh metric tonnes of sugarcane from 9,374.874 hectares of sugarcane acreage has been set from 17 development blocks of the three districts of Surajpur, Surguja (Ambikapur), and Balrampur. Sugarcane will be purchased from 15 thousand 310 registered farmers. The fixation rate of fair and remunerative price for sugarcane crushing year 2021-22 is fixed at a 9.5 percent recovery rate of Rs 275.50 per quintal. A total of Rs 355 per quintal will be paid by the state government for sugarcane incentive amounting to Rs 79.50 per quintal, and if the recovery is more than 9.5 percent, additional sugarcane price will be paid at 0.1: Rs 2.90 per quintal.

President District Cooperative Bank Sarguja Ramdev Ram, Chairman Labor Welfare Board Shafi Ahmed, Vice President Jitendra Dubey, President Maa Mahamaya Cooperative Sugar Factory Vidyasagar Singh were present in the programme.
