Ishwar Sahu triumphs over Ravindra Chaubey in contentious Biranpur incident aftermath

RaipurThe result of the 2023 Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly elections is now out. The BJP has paved the way for a return to power by defeating the Congress after five years of exile. The performance of ministers in this election remained, with 9 out of 13 ministers in the state facing defeat. Apart from this, several prominent figures also had to face defeat. Among all this, there was one seat whose outcome was unexpected. That seat is the Saja seat in the Bemetara district. This seat had been under discussion since the Biranpur incident. Here, BJP’s Ishwar Sahu defeated Congress’s stalwart leader and the state’s Education Minister, Ravindra Chaubey. Ishwar Sahu is the same person whose son, Bhuvaneshwar Sahu, died during the communal violence in Biranpur. After the victory, Ishwar Sahu, a resident of Biranpur, said that this is a victory of goodness over evil. He expressed his gratitude to the people of Biranpur and Saja for this. It’s worth noting that Ishwar Sahu defeated Ravindra Chaube by a margin of nearly 7,000 votes. The reason behind this defeat is believed to be the violence that took place in Biranpur. It can be said that people’s sympathy towards this incident translated into votes, leading to the victory of Ishwar Sahu. However, during its campaign, the BJP also extensively highlighted the violence in Biranpur. Somewhere, the BJP has also benefitted from this.Approximately 110 kilometers from the capital city Raipur, violence erupted in the village of Biranpur after an alleged altercation among schoolchildren. In this clash, a local youth, Bhuneshwar Sahu (22), lost his life, and three police officers were injured. The situation became tense in the village on Tuesday when the police discovered two bodies a few kilometers away from the village. Officials mentioned that the bodies bore signs of injury and were residents of the Biranpur village.
