Youth are powerful change agents in family and society
Jashpur: Jashpur Alliance of Youth for Hope and Opportunity (JayHo) a joint initiative of the Jashpur district administration and UNICEF was launched heretoday. The youth platform aims to promote social and behavioural change in families and society for well-being of women and children in the district.
Ritesh Agarwal, Collector, Jashpur district said “JayHo is a unique youth platform providing an opportunity for young people to use their skills and creativity for the wellbeing of the community. JayHo gives hope for putting an end to longstanding issues like trafficking, malnutrition, child marriage, child labour and others.
Job Zachariah, Chief UNICEF Chhattisgarh said “Youth have the potential to bring a positive change in theirfamilies and communities”. “UNICEF is committed to support adolescents and young people to sharpen skills and provide opportunities for youth through civic engagement initiatives like JayHo” he added. He called upon the young volunteers to work towards ending child marriage and trafficking by ensuring education of all children at least up to 18 years.
Vinay Bhagat MLA said that the JaYHo platform will help empowerment of tribal youth in the district.
Through the youth–led platform, a cadre of youth champions and advocates will be built to promote and advocate key behavioural practices across the district. UNICEF will provide technical support to the platform.
The platform had already received more than 500 applications via online registration. Vijay Agrawal, Superintendent of district police, Ajay Sharma, District program officer, WCD, Jashpur, Abhishek Singh, SBC Specialist, UNICEF, senior district administration officials and over 100 youth volunteers of JayHo attained the event among others.
