Durg admn issues alert on Omicron after two foreign returnees in Bilaspur found Covid positive

Raipur:An alert on Omicron, the new variant of Covid-19, has been issued in Durg district after two foreign returnees in Bilaspur was found positive for Covid-19

It is to be mentioned, 56 people have returned from foreign countries in the last six days to Durg district. It is a matter of concern that 5 of the passengers have come from the countries falling under ‘risk’ category. 

On the other hand, cases of corona infection have also started increasing in the district. On Friday, 7 new cases have been found. Earlier on November 24 and 28, 7 cases each were found in the district.

According to the International Traveling Report received from the District Surveillance Officer, Durgdistrict has 3 passenger travelled from Canada, 11 from Dubai, 1 from Ireland, 2 from Maldives, 2 from Qatar, 2 from KSA, 5 from Singapore, 1 from Sweden, 3 from UAE, 4 people have come from UK, 15 from USA, 1 from West Africa, 1 from Chicago, 4 from Cyprus, 1 from Kuwait and 2 from Netherlands.

The district administration has come on its toes with such a large number of passengers returning from foreign countriesHowever, appropriate measures are being taken by the district administration to keep records of all foreign returnees. 

Alert regarding civic elections

Bhilai Municipal Corporation, Risali and CharodaMunicipal Corporation including Jamul Municipality are going to Civic Body elections on December 20. In such a situation, due to overcrowding, chances of increase in number of corona infection cannot be ruled out. Everyone has been asked to strictly follow the Covid rules along with making masks mandatory. Collector Dr S Bhure has appealed to the common people to come out of the house only by wearing a mask.

 

50 active cases in Durg

On December 4, Durg district had reported 7 corona cases taking the total number of active cases to 50 in the district, out of which 46 are being treated in hospital and 4 in home quarantine. 3 patients were found in Raipur, 2 in Kabirdham, 2 in Balodabazar, 1 in Bilaspur, 2 in Raigarh, 2 in Korba, 1 in Janjgir, 1 in Gaurela, 1 in Balrampur, 2 in Dantewada and 2 in Kanker district.
