Arrest made in Brijmohan Agrawal assaultcase: Former minister accused of murder conspiracy

RaipurIn a recent development, an arrest has been made in the case involving a physical altercation with Brijmohan Agrawal in Raipur. The police have formally charged the accused with assault and making threats. The incident unfolded on Thursday during a public interaction when a group of individuals engaged in a scuffle with the legislator, prompting a significant gathering of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) activists around the Kotwali police station.Brijmohan Agrawal, who was on an election campaign in the Swami Vivekanand Ward and Baijnath Para Ward, faced an attempted attack by individuals wearing white clothes as he reached Bristol Chowk. Among them, the police arrested 43-year-old Mohammad Sajid Khan, also known as Chintu. The Kotwali police are pursuing further legal actions against the accused.The incident sparked a gathering of Agrawal’s supporters at the police station, with hundreds more joining in response to the news. Demonstrations and protests persisted for approximately four hours. Former Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh, present at the scene, appealed to activists to conclude the demonstration. Subsequently, the Hanuman Chalisa was recited, and the supporters dispersed.Raman Singh characterized the incident as a stark example of appeasement, citing government and administrative protection under political conspiracies during this crucial democratic period. He challenged Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, asserting that the results of challenging the people of Raipur would be evident in the votes.Brijmohan Agrawal, addressing his supporters and workers, appealed for peace. He announced that, starting from December 3, stringent actions, including the use of bulldozers, would be taken against such unruly individuals. Stressing the need for maintaining peace until then to prepare for elections and government formation, he expressed faith in democracy. Agrawal emphasized their commitment to preserving the atmosphere of the city and Chhattisgarh and, as a powerful response, encouraged supporters to cast their votes in favor of the BJP if seeking retribution.
