Action plan will be chalked out for imparting professional training to junior lawyers: CM Bhupesh Baghel

Raipur: Chief minister
Bhupesh Baghel on Thursday announced that an action plan will be chalked out
for imparting professional training to junior advocates regarding court-based
works to enhance their advocacy skills and provide them hands-on work
experience. This will not only benefit the budding lawyers but also citizens
who are seeking justice.

He was virtually
addressing swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected body of Durg District Bar
Association from his residence office here today. During the programme, Baghel also
gave approval for improving office seating arrangement in the chamber of Durg
District Bar Association and modernization of library here.

“Junior lawyers
face a lot of difficulties in their early years of court practice due to lack
of knowledge regarding the court proceedings. To overcome this, an action plan
for professional training will be prepared by the law department. Work area of lawyer
stretches across a broad range. They have to go to the courts of Tehsildar,
SDM, and Collector and during the time of elections, even candidates knock at
their doors for miscellaneous legal works.  Lawyers will be able to execute their work
much more efficiently if they are trained”, said Chief Minister.

During the programme,
District and Sessions Judge Rajesh Srivastava put this suggestion regarding the
training for junior lawyers before the Chief Minister. Appreciating his
suggestion, Baghel described it as useful and assigned the responsibility of
preparing drafts on various aspects of training of junior advocates to District
and Sessions Judge Mr. Rajesh Srivastava. He asked him to send the prepared
draft to the Law Department, Government of Chhattisgarh, for further
action. 

Highlighting the glorious
tradition of advocacy in the country and the state, the Chief Minister said “our
freedom fighters and great personalities like Gandhi, Nehru, Patel, Ambedkar,
Dr. Rajendra Prasad, fought the freedom struggle inside the court as well as
outside. Lawyers gave a significant contribution in the independence of the
country. In our state also, personalities like Barrister Chhedilal, Ghanshyam
Gupta, and Thakur Pyarelal gave a notable contribution with their wide legal
knowledge. 

He added that Ghanshyam
Gupta from Durg was also the President of the Hindi Drafting Committee of the
Indian Constitution. Chhattisgarh also has Hidayatullah Law University, one of
the renowned and prestigious law institutes of the country.  He said that this bright tradition needs to be
carried forward and you are working very consciously towards it.

District and Sessions
Judge Rajesh Srivastava said in his address that over 16,322 cases have been
disposed in 13 months in Durg district; meanwhile the courts were even closed for
sometime due to Covid-19 pandemic. On this occasion, he administered oath to
nine office bearers and six working committee members of the association.

Association President Neeta
Jain said that the oath-taking ceremony is a crucial part of our tradition
which motivates us to discharge our duties faithfully. Senior Vice President Prashant
Joshi delivered vote of thanks on the occasion.

Ashish Tiwari joined
the programme from the Chief Minister’s Office on behalf of Bar Association.
Secretary Ravi Shankar Singh, Women’s Vice President Sunita Kasar, Treasurer Anil
Jaiswal along with executive members of the association and a large number of
advocates were present in the function organized at Durg District Court.
