Raipur
The Chhattisgarh government will be disbursing funds to farmers through the state’s Krishi Unnat Yojana. Speaking in Raipur, BJP leader Shivratan Sharma declared that funds will also be allocated to Bhupesh Baghel, emphasizing that Baghel, too, is a farmer. Former Home Minister Tamradhwaj Sahu and Deepak Baij are also listed to receive funds. Notably, irrespective of party affiliations, farmers will be eligible for these funds. Minister Tankram Verma and BJP spokesperson Anurag Agrawal were also present on the occasion.
This decision comes in light of the increased support price promised by the BJP government to farmers. Initially pledging to purchase paddy at 3100 rupees per quintal, the new government procured paddy at 2183 rupees per quintal, leaving 917 rupees pending. This remaining amount is set to be disbursed on March 12, totaling approximately 13,000 crore rupees.
The official launch of the State-level Krishi Unnat Yojana is slated to take place at the District Headquarters in Balod. A massive gathering is anticipated at the Saryu Prasad Agrawal Stadium, with thousands of farmers and rural residents expected to attend. Union Central Agriculture Minister Arjun Munda will grace the occasion as the chief guest.
BJP leader Shivratan Sharma briefed the media on Monday evening about the scheme, highlighting the forthcoming event in Balod district. Chief Minister Vishnudeo Sai and MP CM Mohan Yadav are slated to attend, overseeing the distribution of funds to farmers.
In addition to the farmer-centric initiatives, a programme will be implemented across all districts to transfer funds directly to farmers. Roughly 24.72 lakh farmers’ bank accounts will receive direct transfers under the scheme. Moreover, as part of the Mahatari Vandana Scheme, 1000 rupees were recently transferred to the accounts of 70 lakh women.
Dr Gaurav Singh, the Collector of Raipur district, has issued special directives regarding the event in Raipur. Paddy procurement has been completed from 1,37,000 registered farmers in Raipur district. An amount of 648 crore 62 lakh 23 thousand rupees will be disbursed, reflecting the difference based on the promised support price of 3100 rupees per quintal.
District-level events will be hosted as part of the Scheme at the Science College Ground in Raipur, along with programs at all development block headquarters.
The Forest and Climate Change Department, in collaboration with the district administration in Kondagaon, has arranged for a programme in the region. On March 12, a division-level conference titled ‘Jungle Jatra 2024’ involving primary forest committees and joint forest management committees of the Bastar region will convene.
Additionally, funds will be disbursed to tendu leaf collectors during the ‘Jungle Jatra 2024’ event at the stadium ground in Vikas Nagar, Kondagaon district headquarters. Central Minister Arjun Munda, Chief Minister Vishnudeo Sai, and Forest Minister Kedar Kashyap are expected to be in attendance.
