Raipur The Congress party has unveiled its second list of 53 candidates for the assembly elections in Chhattisgarh, taking the total number candidates declared so far by the party to 83 for the 90-member legislative assembly. The party had declared 30 candidates three days back. As many as 18 MLAs have been benched by the party. Sitting MLAs Devendra Yadav from Bhilai Nagar and Vikas Upadhyay from Raipur West have been retained from their respective seats. Anita Sharma, the sitting MLA from Dharsiwa, has been replaced by Chhaya Verma who will fight against BJP’s new face Anuj Sharma.

The first list of 30 Congress candidates was released on the first day of Navratri, denying tickets to 8 MLAs. For the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly elections, the Congress released the first list of 30 candidates on October 15. This list includes Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, all 13 ministers, and the Speaker of the Assembly. Tickets for 8 MLAs, including a former minister, were cut. Voting will take place in the first phase on 20 seats. In this regard, 19 candidates have been announced. Only the candidate from the Jagdalpur seat has not been announced. In the first list, Congress had announced the names of 30 candidates, and tickets of 8 MLAs were canceled. In the second list, tickets of 10 MLAs have been canceled. The seats where Congress has not yet declared its candidates include Dhamtari, Kasdol, Baikunthpur, Saraipali, Mahasamund, and Sihawa.
