Chhattisgarh Assembly elections: Gold and cash seizures in Bilaspur

Bilaspur In a late-night operation conducted in Bilaspur, law enforcement officers, acting under the directives of the Election Commission, have made significant seizures of valuable assets due to a lack of proper documentation. During the operation, a vehicle was intercepted, leading to the discovery and subsequent confiscation of gold and jewelry worth a staggering 93 lakhs. The individuals in possession of these assets were unable to provide valid documentation for their ownership, prompting the legal seizure. Moreover, in a separate incident one day earlier, an individual was found to be carrying 5,61,000 rupees in the Kotwali area, with similar documentation issues, leading to the seizure of the cash. These operations were carried out under the leadership of IG Range Bilaspur, Ajay Yadav, and SP Santosh Singh, who were joined by a team of dedicated police officers. Notable figures among them included City Police Chief Rajendra Jayaswal, Superintendent of Police (Rural) Archana Jha, CSP Sandeep Patel, and CSP Pooja Kumar.

The coordinated efforts of this team resulted in the establishment of surprise inspection checkpoints at 14 locations spanning various police station areas throughout the district. Notably, a crucial checkpoint was stationed at Devkinandan Chowk, led by Civil Lines Thana in-charge Pradeep Arya. During this inspection, the officers uncovered gold and jewelry with an estimated value of 93 lakhs in a private vehicle, once again underscoring the importance of valid documentation. Aside from these substantial seizures, the checking operation also led to punitive actions taken against a range of offenses, including the illegal transportation of liquor and instances of reckless driving. Authorities have affirmed their commitment to ongoing and continuous campaigns in the region.
