In a heart-wrenching turn of events, a family dispute escalated into a fatal tragedy in Sapphire Green Colony, Baroda, Raipur, on the night of February 25, 2024. The police station at Vidhan Sabha received a distressing call around 11:50 PM reporting a murder at house number 440 in Sapphire Green Phase/2 colony.
Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered the body of Parag Jha, a 28-year-old resident of the area, lying in a pool of blood under his bed. Investigations revealed that Parag’s elder brother, Piyush Jha, aged 31, had allegedly committed the heinous act before fleeing the scene in his jeep.
The incident unfolded when Piyush, reportedly under the influence of alcohol, contacted his family around 10:30 PM to confess to the crime. Initially met with disbelief due to Piyush’s intoxicated state, the family was shaken to their core when he provided visual evidence via video call, showing Parag’s lifeless body in his bedroom.
Acting swiftly, the authorities launched a comprehensive search operation, deploying forensic teams and special units to track down the fugitive. Piyush was ultimately apprehended after extensive efforts, and upon interrogation, he disclosed the harrowing details leading up to the tragic event.
According to Piyush, tensions between the brothers had been simmering over longstanding familial issues. Matters escalated when Parag, seemingly unaware of the gravity of the situation, provoked Piyush, who, overwhelmed by emotion, resorted to violence.
Further investigation uncovered a cache of evidence, including firearms and personal belongings, strengthening the case against the accused. Piyush has since been arrested and remanded to judicial custody, facing charges under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code and Sections 25/27 of the Arms Act.
