Yet another leopard attack: Farmer killed in Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur district.

Raipur. A middle-aged farmer died after being attacked by a leopard in the Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur district of Chhattisgarh. This incident was the fourth in a month.
He was working in the field when the leopard attacked him, sending a panic wave among the people of Janakpur, where the incident took place. This is the third death due to a leopard attack in the district within a month.
On Sunday evening, Janakpur resident Ranbadan was guarding the crop in his field when the leopard attacked him. The incident came to light when some villagers reached the farm. The dead body of Ranbadan was lying there. The Forest Department got information about this, and the department team reached the spot to send the body for a postmortem.
Gulab Kamro, a local MLA, has written to the Forest Minister, pleading with him to stop the frequent leopard attacks in the area. He said that the leopard has become a man-eater and that arrangements should be made to catch it soon.
This leopard is roaming in different areas of the district. Earlier on January 3, it had killed a woman in Singrauli village. Even back then, people had demanded its capture. Then cages were installed in the forests to catch it. Still, the leopard could not be caught.
The villagers are now demanding that we kill this leopard. Two days ago, the expert team that had come to catch the leopard in Kanker had gone back. During that time, the expert team said that the leopard is not a man-eater. As soon as the expert team left, the incident took place.
According to the information, a four-member team of wildlife experts, who reached Kanker in the Kunwarpur and Janakpur forest ranges, is engaged in identifying the leopard. However, to catch the leopard, the forest team has installed half a dozen cages in Janakpur and Kunwarpur.
On December 11, Fuljhariawas was killed in Kunwarpur forest range’s Gaudhora; on December 23, a child named Suresh was injured in Kunwarpur forest range’s Chhapratola; on January 3, Uma BaiBaiga was killed in Janakpur forest range’s Singrauli village; and on January 15, Ramdaman BaiBaiga was killed in Janakpur forest range’s Kunwari village.
Earlier, on December 11, 2022, the same leopard attacked and killed a woman in Godhaura, Kunwarpur. The second incident happened on December 24 at Chhapratola in Kunwarpur. At that time, the leopard carried an 8-year-old child by trapping it in its jaws, but while jumping over the wall, the child escaped from its jaws, sustaining injuries.
