World Social Media Day: One day workshop on “Social Media 4 Social Good” organized in Raipur

Raipur: On June 30, in observance of “World Social Media Day,” the Department of Public Relations, UNICEF, and the Chhattisgarh Alliance for Behavioral Change jointly organized a one-day workshop. The workshop brought together social media influencers, individuals driving social change and playing a significant role in promoting positive transformations, representatives from social service organizations, volunteers, and students from various educational institutions. These participants have effectively harnessed the power of social media tools to foster behavioral change within their communities.

Under the theme “Social Media 4 Social Good,” the event featured a keynote address by UNICEF Chhattisgarh Head Job Zachariah emphasizing the need to recognize social media’s potential as a catalyst for positive change.

Public Relations Department Director Saumil Ranjan Choubey provided guidance to the participants on the topic of “Social Media for Good Governance.” He highlighted the Department’s effective utilization of social media for extensive promotion and dissemination of crucial state government schemes. The Department is committed to its ethical responsibility of continuously alerting the public to misinformation. He emphasized the importance of understanding our social responsibility in the current scenario, where the influence of social media is on the rise. He shared that social media has played a pivotal role in expeditiously resolving public issues by enabling direct citizen engagement with chief minister Bhupesh Baghel.

Two panel discussions were held during the workshop. The first panel discussion focused on “Behavioral Change through the Use of Social Media.” Prominent individuals such as artist Pramod Sahu, Satish Bhuvalka from “Bunch of Fools,” radio jockey Richa Goswami, and Jeet Singh Arya from Unexplored Bastar effectively expressed their views on the topic.

The second panel discussion centered around the systematic use of social media for addressing social issues and finding solutions. Panelists, including international model Veena Sindre, Akash Gupta from Human of Chhattisgarh, and food blogger Mayank Karra, shared their experiences related to their respective subjects. UNICEF SBC Specialist Abhishek Singh provided guidance to the participants on behavioral change through social media. Assistant Director of the Public Relations Department Amana Khatoon discussed the efforts made at the state and district levels through social media.

On this occasion, certificates of recognition were awarded to the best performers in social media from across the state.

The programme was attended by various participants, including SBC consultant Niyati Raj, Chandan Kumar, Chhattisgarh Samvad general manager Vinayak Sharma, and a large number of youth volunteers who are actively involved in social change.
