Women’s Commission takes suo motu cognisance of alleged nude parties in Raipur

Raipur
The Chhattisgarh State Women’s Commission has taken suo motu cognisance of reports regarding alleged nude parties in Raipur and initiated action against the organisers, sponsors, and those who circulated invitations through social media.

Commission chairperson Dr Kiranmayi Nayak has directed Raipur Superintendent of Police and the head of the Cyber Cell to probe the matter and submit an action-taken report within two days.

The commission has further instructed the police to furnish daily progress updates until every accused is apprehended.

“Despite it being Sunday, I have come to the office and issued a note sheet and spoke to the SSP Raipur about the ‘nude party’. There might be a gang behind the event. I fear these people may be trying to repeat what happened in Manipur, where two women were stripped and paraded naked. I would urge the organisers and their family members to publicly apologise,” she said.

Raipur police have detained six people in connection with alleged ‘nude parties’ being promoted on social media. The detentions follow a complaint by a Congress leader and a Hindu organisation after posters inviting men and women to attend without clothes went viral.

The organisers of the ‘Aparichit Club’, which reportedly planned to host a nude party with drugs on September 21, are among the six detained. The club is said to have been organising parties at various farmhouses, resorts, and hotels.
