Raipur: A 27-year-old woman, L. Tanya Reddy, died tragically after being run over by a truck at Telibandha Chowk in Raipur on Friday morning. The accident occurred around 11:30 am when she was riding her scooter from the Magneto Mall side towards Marine Drive. She reportedly entered the truck’s blind spot and was crushed under its rear wheels. She died on the spot due to severe injuries.
Gruesome Accident Caught on CCTV:
CCTV footage of the incident has emerged, revealing the severity of the crash. Tanya’s head and chest were completely crushed under the truck’s wheels. The impact was so intense that her brain was exposed, leading to her instant death. The accident led to a temporary traffic jam, which the police later cleared.
How the Incident Happened:
According to Telibandha police station in-charge Narendra Mishra, the truck—heading from Magneto Mall towards Tatibandh—had stopped at a red signal. As the signal turned green and the vehicle began to move, Tanya’s scooter, which was close to the truck’s left side, got stuck in the front part. The driver, unaware of her presence in the blind spot, moved forward, and she was run over by the rear wheels.
Victim Was En Route to Work:
Tanya was a resident of Golden Sky Apartment Phase-2 on VIP Road. She was reportedly heading to work, as police recovered a bag at the scene. Her body has been sent for postmortem, and her family has been informed.
Accused Driver Detained:
The truck driver, identified as Rampravesh Kumar, has been taken into custody. The vehicle is registered in the Ambikapur district of Chhattisgarh.
Congress Demands Speed Breaker at Telibandha:
Former Congress MLA Vikas Upadhyay blamed the administration for ignoring repeated demands for a speed breaker at Telibandha Chowk. He stated that this negligence has now led to a tragic loss of life. The Congress party will hold a protest at the site at 4 pm today, demanding immediate construction of a speed breaker.
