0Water Resources Department Issues Flood Advisory for Downstream Areas0
Bilaspur
The Water Resources Department has issued an alert stating that water may be released from the Arpa-Bhaisajhar Barrage at any time after midnight tonight. Residents and establishments located along the downstream stretch of the Arpa River have been advised to remain vigilant and take precautionary measures.
Due to continuous rainfall in the barrage’s catchment area over the past two to three days, the water level in the barrage has been steadily rising and has now crossed 60% capacity. To ensure the structural safety of the barrage, the gates may be opened and water released into the river at any point after midnight.
The department has urged the public and concerned agencies—including mineral mine contractors, industrial units, institutions, local residents, villagers, construction agencies working in the river, sand contractors, and owners of trucks and tractors—to relocate their movable and immovable property from flood-prone areas along the riverbanks to safer locations immediately.
The department further clarified that it will not be held responsible for any damage caused by sudden flooding due to the water release.
Residents are advised to stay alert, monitor official updates, and cooperate with local authorities for their safety.
