A tribute meeting was organized at Chandragiri in Dongargarh, Chhattisgarh, on the first death anniversary of Acharya Vidyasagar Maharaj. Attending the ceremony, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that every moment and every particle of Acharya Vidyasagar ji’s life was dedicated to the nation. Through his austerity and spiritual practice, he gave India a global identity. Shah further said that Maharaj ji was not just a saint. He was a scholarly man who gave birth to new ideas.
Shah further said that the country’s identity should be from Bharat, not India. During the G-20 hosting, invitations to the heads of other countries went by the name of PMO Bharat. The Union Home Minister said these things at the tribute meeting held at Chandragiri in Dongargarh on the first death anniversary of Acharya Vidyasagar Maharaj. CM Sai was also present with him. Shah also released a 100 rupee coin and a 5 rupee postage stamp with Acharya Vidyasagar’s picture.
After the programme, Home Minister reached Pratibhasthali in Chandragiri, where he had food with Jain saints. After this, he reached Maa Bamleshwari temple and had darshan and worshiped the mother. Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai, Finance Minister OP Choudhary, and MP Santosh Pandey were also present with him during this time.
On February 18, 2024, Acharya Vidyasagar Maharaj took Samadhi at Chandragiri Tirth in Dongargarh. According to the date, his Samadhi is completing one year today on February 6, 2025, and on the completion of one year, a grand festival program has been organized by the Chandragiri Trust from February 1 to 6. Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai was also present with Union Home Minister Amit Shah in the tribute meeting.
The famous Maa Bamleshwari temple, religious places like Pragyagiri and Chandragiri, and after the Samadhi of Vidyasagar Maharaj ji, this area has now become a great pilgrimage. Many big leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat have met Vidyasagar Maharaj here.
Vidyasagar Maharaj showed the path of patriotism and restraint to the society. The life of Rashtra Sant Vidyasagar Maharaj was dedicated to patriotism and public service. Many social projects established by him are still active in Dongargarh today.
According to the Jain community, the Pratibha Sthali School located in the area is a testament to his special commitment towards the education of daughters. It is the best residential school in the state. Apart from this, a handloom industry and a huge Gaushala are also operated in Chandragiri Tirth, which reflects his social vision.
