UNICEF’s Three-day Workshop Begins at Central University.

From January 9 to 11, 2023, Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya (Central University) will host a three-day workshop in collaboration with UNICEF India. The three-day workshop on the rollout of the Communication for Social and Behavior Change (CSBC) Module began on January 9, 2023, at 9 a.m. in the Vishwavidyalaya’s Rajat Jayanti Sabhagar. The honourable vice chancellor, Professor Alok Kumar Chakrawal, was the chief guest of the inaugural program. Sanjay Singh, SBC specialist, UNICEF, and Abhishek Singh, SBC specialist, UNICEF, was the special guest. On the stage with them was the registrar of the university, Prof. Manish Shrivastava, the convener, Prof. V.S. Rathore, and his co-convener, Prof. Pratibha J. Mishra.

The workshop started with the guests lighting the lamp in the auditorium and offering flowers before the portraits of Maa Saraswati and Saint Guru Ghasidas Baba. During this, the Tarang Band of the University gave a mesmerising presentation of Saraswati Vandana and Kulgeet. The guests got welcomed with saplings. Professor V.S. Rathore delivered the welcome address.

Honourable Vice-Chancellor Professor Alok Kumar Chakrawal, the Program’s Chief Guest, stated that Guru Ghasidas Central University is emerging as a new paragon and ideal of development in terms of academics and infrastructure development in the country. Underscoring the plight of children suffering from the Syrian war, he appreciated the efforts by UNICEF around the world for the upbringing, nutrition, and protection of children. He said that it is deplorable that developed countries violate women’s rights and make changes in the statistics and figures related to children at their convenience. According to Professor Chakrawal, the New Education Policy will protect the present and future generations of Indian youth.

Professor Chakrawal went on to say that Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya is changing the curriculum to meet the needs of students and industries in keeping with the spirit of the National Education Policy 2020 and that with these changes, the Central University will shine brightly in the academic world in the coming years. He stated that the workshop topic is being considered for inclusion as a value-added course in the curriculum beginning with the next session.

Earlier, the guest from UNICEF Delhi, Sanjay Singh, an SBC expert, said that this workshop of UNICEF talks about personal change as well as social change. UNICEF is constantly striving to achieve this goal. He said that with an eye to this goal, UNICEF prepared various modules in collaboration with nine prestigious universities in the country.

Presenting the outline of the workshop, Abhishek Singh, an SBC expert who attended the workshop as a special guest from UNICEF Raipur, shed light on the topics to be deliberated upon in various technical sessions to be held in the next three days. He said that this workshop would set a benchmark for other regions.

The guests at the programme were felicitated by presenting shawls, shreephals, and mementoes. The ceremony was broadcast in a hybrid format (online via YouTube Live). The Registrar, Prof. Manish Shrivastava, gave the vote of thanks. Participants from various institutes, deans, heads of departments, teachers, and officers were present at the inauguration of the workshop.
