In 2021, 1 crore 15 lakh 32 thousand tourists, including Indian and foreign, have visited Chhattisgarh. Tourism plays a significant role in any state’s economic growth. The tourism industry has suffered the most economically in the current era. Despite this, the Chhattisgarh government has not allowed the pace of development to slow. During the various phases of the lockdown, the government made every effort to expand the tourism sector. The state’s tourism policy 2020 was developed with these goals.
Along with tourism development, employment of local people, and rural tourism development, this tourism policy connects local people with the tourism industry through a guide training programme, allowing for meaningful tourism development results. The scheme of home stay for tourists is being worked on so that tourists can experience the lifestyle, environment, and local food of rural areas and tribal communities.
Development work has begun in Chandkhuri and Janjgir’s Shivrinarayan for the first phase of the state government’s ambitious plan, Ram Van Gaman tourism circuit construction. There are approximately 138 tourist spots in Chhattisgarh. In the multidimensional tourism sector, travellers are provided services by creating hotels, motels, resorts, and restaurants with the best catering and accommodation facilities in designated tourist regions, particularly tribal areas.
The highest landmass of Chhattisgarh, present in the heart of India, is the Satpura hills, and in the middle lie the plains of the Mahanadi and its tributaries. The vast Bastar plateau lies to its south. Ancient monuments, uncommon wild animals, sculpted temples, Buddhist sites, castles, waterfalls, caves, and rock paintings abound throughout Chhattisgarh. Tourist attractions include historical, archaeological, religious, and natural places. In addition to national parks and wildlife refuges, there is a one-of-a-kind example of exquisite folk culture.
Kutumsar Cave and Kanger Valley, National Park, and Chitrakot Falls are popular tourist destinations in Bastar because of their breathtaking beauty. The Chhattisgarh Tourism Board has visited 11 areas in the state, in addition to New Delhi, Gujarat, and Madhya Pradesh, to provide tourists with accessible information about Chhattisgarh’s tourist places and to facilitate reservations under individual and tour packages for sightseeing.
