Coaching center will be built in Saddu for dropout children

Revised reservation rules for admission in class 6th approved

Raipur:Tribal and Scheduled Caste Development Minister Dr Premsai Singh Tekam chaired an important meeting of Residential and Ashram Institute Directors at the Mantralaya on Monday. It was decided in the meeting to start Eklavya Adarsh Residential Schools at Lailungain Raigarh and Lundra in Surguja district from academic session 2022-23. The strength of these schools will be 60 each in the first year. Secretary, Tribal and Scheduled Castes Development Department, D D Singh, Commissioner Shammi Abidi and members of the Board of Directors were present in the meeting.

Coaching of students for competitive exams

A coaching center will be set up at Saddu, Raipur for the dropout children of EklavyaAdarsh ​​Residential School. An amount of Rs 15 crore has been approved for the construction of the building here. Class 12th passed students from Eklavya schools will be given coaching for various competitive examinations at this centre. A proposal was approved in 2021-22 to prepare an action plan for crash course for preparing students for JEE and NEET examinations. It is noteworthy that 101 talented students were selected after a screening test from all EklavyaAdarsh ​​Residential Schools. While 51 students have been selected for NEET coaching, 50 for JEE coaching.

Minister Dr Tekam said that target should be set to provide coaching to 200 students from the coming year. Coaching on medical, engineering, agricultural engineering and CLAT should also be given. It was informed in the meeting that at present 73 students are being provided coaching at the Education Commissioner’s Office,  PRSU.

Amendment in Admission Reservation Rules 

The revised reservation rule was approved for admission in class 6th in the academic session 2022-23 in Eklavya Adarsh ​​residential schools. According to which the students of Special Backward Tribes – Kamar, Abujhmadia, PahariKorwa, Birhor, Baiga, Pando and Bhujiya will be given priority in admission.

Preference in admission to nomadic and orphan children

A maximum of two children of the staff working in Eklavya Vidyalaya will be facilitated with education in the school in the form of Day Scholar, which will be in addition to the sanctioned seat. 10 percent reservation of total sanctioned seats will be for Children of nomadic community, children who have lost their parents in naxal attack, insurgency, Covid, children of widow women, children of disabled parents and others like – land donating families Children, orphans will get admission in these schools. These children should be from the scheduled caste category and have appeared in the entrance examination. The remaining seats will be filled by the students belonging to the Scheduled Tribes category. In case of non-availability of children for the reserved seats, the seats will be filled by the students belonging to the Scheduled Tribes category.

Agriculture and commerce faculties will start

It was decided to start agriculture and commercefaculties in Eklavya Adarsh Residential Schools. For this, feedback has also been taken from the students studying in Eklavya schools. It is noteworthy that only science and mathematics faculties are being taught in Eklavya schools.

Proposal to open Eklavya schools in 16 tribal dominated development blocks

A proposal to operate Eklavya Adarsh ​​Residential School in 16 tribal development blocks of the state according to the population and literacy rate was approved in the meeting. The proposal has been sent to the Government of India. Presently 29 Eklavya Schools are operating in the state in English medium. 

Academic Calendar Approved 

The academic calendar for the year 2022-23 was approved in the meeting. According to which classes of class 10th will start from June 1 and classes from classes upto 6th will start from June 10. Classes of newly admitted students in class 12th will be resumed from May 30 in Eklavya schools. During the summer vacation, special camps will be organized for co-scholastic activities – painting, soft skills, handicrafts, cartoon workshops, mobile science models and robotics etc. Teachers will be given training by inviting subject experts from June 5 to June 15 for teaching from CBSE syllabus. Similarly, in collaboration with UNICEF, training for the psycho-social development of children and institution operation and capacity development of the principals and superintendents of Eklavya Vidyalaya will be organised from June 8 to June 13.

The employees of Eklavya School will be provided arrears of Rs 350 lakh in the third and fourth installments of the seventh pay scale. It was decided to hike the honorarium of the qualified teachers and English medium teachers to attract them to give their service in EklavyaSchools located in remote areas.
