Raipur
In a major development today, two active Maoist cadres, carrying a combined bounty of ₹16 lakh, surrendered before senior police officials in Sukma. Following their surrender, security forces recovered a significant cache of arms and cash hidden in the forests of south Bastar.

The surrendered cadres have been identified as Janila alias Madkam Hindme (30) and Soni alias Madvi Kosi (24). Both were members of Company No. 08 under the KKBN Division in Odisha, with a reward of ₹8 lakh each on their heads.

Based on inputs provided by the surrendered cadres, security forces recovered a Maoist dump, which includes:

  • Cash: ₹10 lakh
  • Automatic Weapons: 1 INSAS LMG, 2 AK-47 rifles, and 3 .303 rifles
  • Ammunition: 14 rounds of AK-47 and 13 rounds of .303 ammunition

This recovery is part of the ‘Puna Narkom’ (New Dawn) campaign, launched by the Sukma Police to encourage Maoists to join the mainstream. The initiative operates under the Chhattisgarh government’s Naxalite Surrender and Rehabilitation Policy.

SP Kiran Chavan stated, “The Maoist presence in Sukma district is nearly at an end. Government schemes and development works are now reaching even the most remote areas.

The Chhattisgarh government has ensured that the surrendered individuals receive immediate financial assistance, security, and skill development training to facilitate their transition to a dignified life.
