Two CRPF CoBRA Jawans Martyred in Maoist IED Blast on Sukma-Bijapur Border

In a major incident on the Sukma and Bijapur border of Chhattisgarh on Sunday, Maoists triggered an IED blast between Silger and Tekalgudem, killing two jawans of CRPF’s CoBRA Battalion on Sunday.
According to information, during the Road Opening Duty movement from Silger camp in the Jagargunda area, the 201 Cobra Battalion jawans were headed towards Tekalgudem with a truck and motorcycles. Maoists had planted an IED on the route. It is reported that around 3:00 pm, as the truck carrying jawans moved out, it was hit by the IED.
Due to the blast, truck driver jawan Vishnu R and co-driver jawan Shailendra were martyred. The remaining jawans are reported to be safe. It is said that these jawans were transporting rations to the jawans’ camp. Tekalgudem and the surrounding areas are known strongholds of Naxalite commanders Hidma and Deva. A camp for security forces was established here just a few months ago.
Just a month ago, the vehicle of the police station officer in Bijapur district was hit by an IED blast by the Naxalites. During the government work, Farasigad police station officer Akash Masih was coming to Bijapur along with his one jawan. During this, Naxalites had blown up the IED blast between Farasigad and Rani Bodli village. However, police station officer Akash Masih and both jawans are safe. Chief Minister Vishnudeo Sai expressed grief over the martyrdom of two Cobra jawans in the Naxalite attack in Tekalgudem of Sukma district. He said that it is a sad news of the death of two Cobra jawans in the IED blast by Naxalites. I pray for the peace of the departed souls and provide strength to the families.
The CM said that the Naxals are frustrated by the anti-Naxal campaign going on in Bastar and are resorting to such cowardly acts. The sacrifice of the jawans will not go in vain; we will not sit quietly until the end of Naxalism.
