The slogan “Truth has prevailed” echoed in the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly on Wednesday as Congress MLAs, led by Leader of Opposition Dr. Charan Das Mahant, held a protest holding placards inscribed with “Satyamev Jayate” (Truth alone triumphs).
Former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and all members of the Congress Legislative Party were present during the demonstration.
The protest came a day after a court ruling that, according to the party, exposed the alleged malafide and unlawful actions of the Modi government and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the Young Indian case involving senior Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi.
Party leaders stated that the court had held the ED’s proceedings as unauthorized and beyond jurisdiction, observing that the agency had initiated action without any FIR, thereby rendering the case baseless.
In a sharp attack on the Centre, the Congress accused the Modi government of pursuing a decade-long campaign of political vendetta against the principal opposition party.
“There is no money-laundering case, no criminal proceeds, and no transfer of property — just baseless allegations driven by malice and political animosity,” party legislators asserted.
Reiterating its stand, the Congress said it remains committed to upholding the truth and defending the rights of every Indian citizen, regardless of political pressure.
