Tragic Incident Near Gevra-Dipka Mine Boundary During Suspected Coal Theft

Raipur
In a tragic incident reported near the Gevra-Dipka mine boundary, three youths from Hardi Bazaar and Mundapara Bazaar allegedly entered the restricted mining area late last night or early this morning with the intention of stealing leftover coal.

According to the local police, such boundary areas often contain remaining coal deposits, where the coal walls can rise between 15 and 25 feet.

It is suspected that while attempting to steal coal, a section of the coal wall collapsed, leading to the fatal accident. Police reports confirm that 18-year-old Vishal Yadav and 24-year-old Dhan Singh Kanwar lost their lives in the incident, while 19-year-old Sahil Dhanwar sustained serious injuries and has been admitted to the district hospital for treatment. The bodies of the deceased have been sent for post-mortem, and an investigation is underway.

Initial findings suggest that the youths entered the mine premises without authorization, bypassing security checkpoints and without any safety precautions.

SECL management has reiterated that trespassing into mine areas is strictly prohibited and has urged the public to refrain from engaging in such dangerous and illegal activities. The company appeals to all to avoid taking such risks and not to fall prey to temptation.
