A traffic policeman has reportedly been caught on CCTV punching a girl in the face for alleged violation of traffic rules. The incident occurred near Shankar Nagar under Khamardih police station area in Raipur.
According to the complaint filed by the girl with Raipur SSP Dr. Lal Umed Singh, the incident took place on Wednesday afternoon around 2 pm. The traffic policeman was allegedly making a wrong turn near Arogya Hospital in Shankar Nagar when his bike collided with the scooter driven by the two girls, the complaint reads. Following the collision, the traffic policeman allegedly started abusing the girl and then assaulted her.
The CCTV footage of the incident has surfaced and is being widely circulated. The girl has requested the Raipur SSP to take strict action against the accused traffic policeman.
Meanwhile, Khamardih police station in-charge Manoj Sahu has stated that it is not yet clear which police station the accused policeman belongs to. The matter is under investigation.
