Three Maoists Killed in Sukma-Bijapur Border Operation; Clashes Ongoing
Raipur
In a joint operation against Maoist insurgents, security forces have purportedly neutralized at least three Maoists during an intense encounter at the Sukma-Bijapur border in Chhattisgarh. The operation, which is still underway, is part of a concerted effort to weaken Naxal activities in the region.
The anti-Naxal operation is being conducted by a joint team comprising the District Reserve Guard (DRG), CoBRA battalion, Special Task Force (STF), and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). The operation is targeting a key Maoist stronghold, believed to harbor several top leaders of the insurgent group.
Police sources revealed that the operation was launched following credible intelligence about the presence of Maoist cadres in the dense forests along the Sukma-Bijapur border. The area is considered a strategic hub for Naxal battalions, and security forces have been focusing on dismantling these bases.
Preliminary reports suggest significant success, with the confirmed elimination of three Maoists so far. However, fierce clashes between security forces and Maoists continue, and officials anticipate additional casualties as the operation progresses.
The ongoing action is seen as a critical move to weaken Maoist influence in the region, which has been a hotbed of insurgent activities for years. The successful execution of such operations highlights the growing effectiveness of security forces in countering Naxal threats.
Authorities have hinted at the possibility of further operations in the coming days to sustain the momentum against the insurgency.
