Three Maoists Killed in Bijapur Encounter; Gunfight Near Indravati Reserve Continues

Three Maoists were killed in an encounter with security forces in the dense forests of Chhattisgarh’s insurgency-affected Bijapur district on Saturday. The gunfight erupted during an anti-Maoist operation near the Indravati Tiger Reserve, a known hotspot for Maoist activity in the Bastar division.
Acting on specific intelligence about Maoist presence, a joint team of security personnel launched a combing operation in the early hours. The encounter broke out around 9 am and continued with intermittent exchange of fire till noon.
According to police officials, Maoists have suffered significant casualties, and several others are believed to be injured. As of now, the bodies of two Maoist cadres have been recovered from the encounter site. Search operations are ongoing, and further details are awaited.
The operation is part of intensified efforts by security forces to crack down on Maoist presence in the region, particularly in forested zones bordering the Indravati reserve.
