The Common Review Mission team inspected the hospitals in Kondagaon and Surajpur districts for five days and shared its findings with the state government.

A 14-member team of the Common Review Mission of the Government of India, which arrived in Chhattisgarh to know the ground reality of health services, inspected the hospitals of Kondagaon and Surajpur districts for five days. The team visited various government hospitals in these two districts and investigated the health facilities being provided there. After the completion of the tour, the Central Government team held a meeting with the senior officers of the Health Department and shared the report and apprised them of their feedback and suggestions. Secretary of the Health Department, Prasanna R, Thanked the members of Common Review Mission for on-field feedback and suggestions and said that the Health Department would work towards removing the shortcomings pointed out by the team.

The team of CRM, who came on a five-day visit to the state, included E. Robert Singh, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare; Dr Sandeep Jogdand, Joint Director, Health and Family Welfare Regional Office Dr Pranjal, Health System Officer, World Health Organization. Tamuli, Dr Sudhanshu Kumar Meher, Ministry of AYUSH, Dr Kazi Tawfiq Ahmed, Public Health Specialist (TB) and Dr B.S., Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Director of Health Services Bhim Singh, Director of National Health Mission Bhoskar Vilas Sandipan, Managing Director of CGMSC Abhijit Singh and Director of Epidemic Control Dr Subhash Mishra, were also present in the meeting with the team.

The team of Common Review Mission appreciated the Chief Minister Haat-Bazar Yojana, Anemia Free Program, Malaria Free Chhattisgarh Abhiyan and Hummer Lab Scheme run by the State Government. He praised the mental health services, physiotherapy services provided in the health and wellness centres, and the availability of medicines in the state’s health centres. Dr Sudhanshu Kumar Meher, another team member, praised the Department of AYUSH’s longevity programme. Under this, people above 60 years are being examined and treated free of cost every Thursday of the month.

CRM’s team recommended closing the gap between sub-health and urban health centres as soon as possible. He asked for continuous monitoring of the health of high-risk pregnant women. Team member Dr Qazi Tawfiq Ahmed suggested increasing the scope of TB testing, testing TB under the Mukhyamantri Haat-Bazaar clinic scheme and conducting a maximum number of tests with the help of the private sector. The team also suggested bringing more awareness about leprosy in rural areas.
