T.S. Singhdeo wrote to the Union Health Minister, urging him to make an immediate decision regarding medical students who had returned from Ukraine.

Chhattisgarh Health Minister T.S. Singhdeo has written a letter to the Union Health Minister, Mansukh Mandaviya, requesting him to take a policy decision at the earliest to complete the studies of the medical students who have returned from Ukraine. In March, the Health Minister wrote to him as well, appealing to him to make a decision right away. 207 medical students from the state were forced to stop their studies midway through the Russian-Ukrainian war and return home.

Health Minister has said in his letter that due to the circumstances arising out of the Russian-Ukraine war, all the students of Indian origin studying medicine in Ukraine have been brought back safely by the Government of India. Regarding the future and further education of medical students of other states, including Chhattisgarh, who came back to the country in large numbers, I have urged you through a letter to take the appropriate initiative immediately.

The Union Health Minister has received a letter from T S Singhdeo with an additional attachment from the Chhattisgarh Ukraine Medical Parents and Student Association, Raipur, in which 207 students and their parents have voiced their profound concern for the future. T. S. Singhdeo expressed optimism that the Central Government would likewise be nearing the completion of a suitable action plan for the future. On this delicate topic, he has pushed for quick policy decisions.

Health Minister T S Singhdeo has requested Union Minister to accommodate all the affected students by allotting additional seats in the medical colleges based on their study period so that the future of the affected students can be secured and assured. This will alleviate the country’s doctor shortage, and the general public will benefit from medical services.
