On one hand, the state government is organizing a revenue fortnight starting today, while on the other hand, the Patwaris are warning of an indefinite strike starting two days later. Regarding the Patwaris’ strike, Revenue Minister Tankaram Verma said that they have spoken to the Patwaris and told them that it is in everyone’s best interest that they do not go on strike.
The revenue minister, in a media briefing, said that the suspended Patwari in Sarangarh is demanding reinstatement. “We have reviewed the matter, examined the papers, and found the Patwari at fault. I have informed the president of the Patwari association that they are escalating the issue unnecessarily. Suspension is for a limited period,” the minister stated.
The Minister said regarding the revenue fortnight that it is being organized to resolve pending cases. This fortnight, which started in Balodabazar, will run for 15 days in all the remaining 32 districts. It will address farmers’ land-related issues, including resolving disputes related to maps, khasra, and land partition.
