Security forces recovered a large cache of explosives and Maoist material during a series of anti-Naxal operations across Bijapur district on 16 February 2026. The teams also destroyed two illegal memorials built by the outlaws in the Usoor and Gangaloor areas.

IEDs Recovered in Tadpala and Kondapadu
A search team from the 229th Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) recovered two Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) near a stream south of the Tadpala base area. One explosive was concealed in a beer bottle, while the other was planted in a Barrel Grenade Launcher (BGL) shell.
In a separate operation under the Bhopalpatnam police station limits, a joint team of the 22nd and 214th CRPF battalions detected four beer bottle IEDs in the Kondapadu area during area domination and demining exercises. Specialist teams destroyed all six recovered IEDs on the spot following safety protocols.

Major Dump Unearthed
During intensive searches in the Tadpala forest, security personnel discovered a significant dump of explosives and logistical supplies buried underground. The recovered items include:
- 40 BGLs and 35 BGL rounds
- 90 batteries and 7 iron pipes for manufacturing directional IEDs
- Raw materials for crude grenades, including iron plates and lathe machine parts
- Iron cutter blades, water pumps, and steel trunks
- Daily essentials such as soap, detergent, and magazine pouches
Maoist Memorials Demolished
Forces also targeted the symbolic presence of the banned organisation. Personnel from the 229/E Company of the CRPF demolished an illegal Maoist memorial in the Kamalapur forests. Similarly, a team from the 222nd Battalion destroyed another memorial in the Korcholi area under the Gangaloor police station limits.
Operations against Maoist groups in the district remain ongoing as security forces intensify their presence in former strongholds.
