Security Forces Destroy 12 Maoist Memorials in Bijapur, Two IEDs Neutralised

Raipur | Security forces have demolished 12 Maoist memorials and neutralised two Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) across various locations in Bijapur district during recent anti-insurgency operations. The action was part of a coordinated effort by different battalions of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) to dismantle the symbolic influence of the outlawed organisation in the Bastar region.

Operations in Pillur and Gangaloor

Personnel from the CRPF 214 Battalion located seven illegal memorials during area domination exercises in the Pillur forest. The team discovered these structures near Bade Kakler and Pulgundum villages.

During a perimeter search, alert jawans recovered two IEDs fashioned from beer bottles and packed with cordex wire. The Bomb Detection and Disposal (BDD) squad safely destroyed the explosives in situ before razing the memorials.

In a separate operation under the Gangaloor police station limits, personnel from the CRPF 85 Battalion demolished a 12-foot-high memorial in the Mallur forest.

Further Crackdown in Palnar

Continuing the drive, the CRPF 222 Battalion identified and destroyed four additional structures—three near Palnar village and one in Peddakorma—as part of the sustained crackdown against Maoist presence.

Dismantling the Narrative of Fear

Police officials stated that such symbolic structures are often used by Maoist cadres to maintain a psychological hold over villagers and propagate their extremist ideology. The demolition aims to eliminate the atmosphere of fear and reinforce the democratic presence of the administration in interior areas.

Meanwhile, Vishnu Deo Sai, Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, has directed authorities to maintain the momentum of such operations. The state government has reiterated its commitment to establishing permanent peace and security in the region by removing all remnants of violent propaganda.

Security forces confirmed that such lawful anti-Maoist actions will continue under the ongoing campaign to make the region free from Maoist influence.
