Raipur Reports First Covid Case : Patient Undergoing Treatment at Private Hospital

Raipur
Amid a rise in Covid-19 cases across the country, Raipur has reported its first coronavirus case. A 41-year-old man visited MMI Narayana Hospital on Friday with symptoms of cold and cough and tested positive for Covid during screening.

The patient, a resident of Pachpedi Naka in the Lakshminagar area, has been kept in a private isolation ward. So far, no travel history has been identified. The hospital administration and State Nodal Officer Dr. Khemraj Sonwani have confirmed the case.

It is not yet confirmed whether the patient is infected with the newly emerging Covid variant JN.1. Further clarification is expected in the next round of test reports later in the evening.

Following the patient’s positive test, the health department has begun collecting samples from his family members and screening individuals who came in contact with him. With no travel history, the possibility of local transmission is being considered.

The state government and health department have appealed to the public to exercise caution, avoid crowded places, and immediately get tested at the nearest health centre if any symptoms appear.
