Raipur man kills friend after being refused a walk

Raipur: The Raipur Police arrested a 22-year-old man for allegedly stabbing his friend and the victim’s older brother following an argument in the city’s Khamhardih area. The friend, who was admitted to hospital with serious injuries, succumbed to his wounds during treatment.

The accused, Krishna Deware Nagraha alias Todu, resident of BSUP Colony, Deware Basti, Kachna, was arrested by a joint team from the Anti-Crime and Cyber Unit and Khamhardih Police Station. The police also seized the knife used in the crime.

The incident occurred near the Community Hall in Kachna Housing Board Colony around 6 pm on 2 November 2025.

The complainant, Sumit Tandi, a resident of the same colony, told the police he was walking with his younger brother, Vivek Tandi, when they were approached by Krishna Deware. Krishna Deware insisted that Vivek accompany him somewhere, but both brothers refused.

Enraged by the refusal, the accused allegedly started abusing Vivek Tandi and attacked him with a sharp knife, stabbing him in the left side of the stomach.

When Sumit Tandi intervened to save his brother, Krishna Deware allegedly threatened him with death and stabbed him on the left hand.

Vivek Tandi sustained severe injuries and was taken to hospital, where he died during treatment.

The Khamhardih Police registered an FIR against the accused, Krishna Deware, under Crime No. 301/25.

Following instructions from senior officials, the joint police team commenced a detailed investigation. They questioned the complainant and other individuals and initiated a search for the accused.

The team conducted continuous raids at all potential hideouts. During interrogation after his arrest, Krishna Deware confessed to committing the murder.

The accused was booked under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act.
