Raipur District Hospital Lab Becomes First in India to Receive NQAS Certification

Raipur
Chhattisgarh has secured a significant national achievement in the public healthcare sector. The Integrated Public Health Laboratory (IPHL) located at the Raipur District Hospital has been awarded the National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS) certificate.
Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda, in a communication to the state, confirmed that the Raipur IPHL is the first laboratory of its kind in the country to receive this certification. He noted that the achievement reflects the growing capacity of the state to provide reliable and quality-assured diagnostic services. The Union Minister added that this effort has strengthened public trust in the healthcare system and established new benchmarks for service delivery.
The National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS) are quality benchmarks set by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. These standards evaluate hospitals and laboratories based on safety, accuracy, reliability, and patient-centric services.
An NQAS certification for an IPHL indicates that the facility meets national quality protocols. This certification ensures:
- Diagnostic reports are accurate and reliable.
- Processes from sample collection to reporting are standardised and safe.
- Presence of trained and qualified technicians and specialists.
- Use of modern and calibrated medical equipment.
- Strict adherence to bio-medical waste and infection control rules.
- Patient safety, privacy, and timely service.
