Janjgir-Champa police have intensified their search operation to arrest Palash Chandel, son of a senior BJP leader, in alleged molestation case.
Police team searched the house of Palash in Janjgir on Sunday night, but he was not present.
Palash is accused of raping a tribal girl and getting her to have an abortion. On Sunday night, the SIT team went out to find the son of the leader of the opposition. The house of the Leader of the Opposition and the rice mill of his relatives were searched.
The tribal girl filed a report of rape in Raipur Mahila Thana four days back and the diary of the case has reached Janjgir.
SP Vijay Agrawal has constituted a Special Investigation Team under the guidance of SDOP Chandrashekhar Parma to investigate the matter. The team along with cyber experts and FSL team also inspected the incident site in Janjgiron Saturday and collected evidence. The team has also taken a detailed statement of the victim on Saturday. On the other hand, Congress also burnt effigies of accused Palash Chandel and his father.
The girl has complained to the police that she was raped by Palash Chandel, a resident of Janjgir Champa, and when she became pregnant, she was forced to abort. On the complaint of the girl, the police have registered an offense against Palash under other sections including rape.
The complaining woman is in a government job. She told police that in 2018, Palash Chandelcame in contact with him through Facebook. The victim has alleged that Palash had proposed her for marriage and abused her physically for a long time in the name of getting married.
According to the victim girl, she became pregnant in 2021. The victim has alleged that the accused used to beat her and threaten to get her sacked from the job.
Disturbed by such intimidation and sexual exploitation, she came to Raipur and complained to the Scheduled Tribes Commission, State Women’s Commission, Women’s Police Station Raipur. After which a case has been registered against the accused under 376, 376 (2) (g), 313 and 3 (2) ST / SC Act. The victim has also demanded protection for herself and her family.
