Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel should resign, said Dr Raman Singh

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel should have resigned from the post after Income Tax Department carried out raids, surfacing movable and immovable assets worth hundreds of crore and cash over Rs 9 crore.

Income Tax raids exposing such a huge cash and properties from the near ones of Chief Minister has earned bad names for the state. Chhattisgarh is ashamed because of corrupt Chhattisgarh government led by Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghl, said BJP National Vice President and former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh on Tuesday.

The Income Tax Department raids at the residence of Deputy Secretary to the Chief Minister twice in last 24 months, including the raid on June 30, 2022, and 30 locations of Suryakant Tiwari and his partners in Korba and other parts of the state has maligned the image of the state, said Dr Singh while talking to media persons at the party office in Raipur on Tuesday. Former Minister Rajesh Munat was also present on the occasion. Dr Singh said that SuryakatTiwari is the same man for whom Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, his ministers and MLAs used to spend hours when Tiwari get hospitalized.

Dr Singh said that the Income Tax Department seized RS 9.5 crore cash, jewellery worth Rs 4.5 crore, detected illegal transactions over about Rs 200 croreand seized ‘benami’ documents which can reveal startling facts regarding illegal transactions.

It is the case of illegal coal business in Korba and other parts of the state which are going on under the protection of the state government, said Dr Singh. Documents related to Rs 50 crore worth of immovable property have been seized by the I-T Department. What is more shocking, the government officials have been paid in cash and documents related to this have also been seized, said Dr Singh, adding like government, like officials.

On Ghaziabad incident where Chhattisgarh police failed to arrest a new channel anchor Rohit Ranjan, Dr Singh said that the entire nation knows what is going on in Chhattisgarh. There is a process, but Chhattisgarh police in this case did not follow the same.

Like IPL, collector are being auctioned for postings in Chhattisgarh, said Dr Singh.

The BJP will make people of Chhattisgarh aware about the corruption of the Congress government, said Dr Singh.
