AICC president: Chhattisgarh Congress passes resolution in favour of Rahul Gandhi

After Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress (CPCC) passed a resolution on Sunday in favour of reappointing Rahul Gandhi as party’s national president. The election for the national president will be held on October 17. The PCC has also delegated the right to appoint the future president of Congress Chhattisgarh, treasurer and representative in the All India Congress Committee. Both the resolutions were unanimously passed in the meeting held at the party’s state headquarters Rajiv Bhawan in Raipur.

Post the meeting, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said that he moved a proposal for Rahul Gandhi to be reinstated as the President of All India Congress Committee. Mohan Markam, TS Singhde, Speaker Dr Charandas Mahant, cabinet ministers DrPremsai Singh Tekam, Dr Shiv Kumar Dahriya supported this. State president Mohan Markam moved the proposal giving power to the future AICC president to appoint State President, Treasurer and representative in the AICC.

The chief minister said that Markam has been given the responsibility to take this proposal to the returning officer of AICC Madhusudan Mistry. He said the proposal to make Rahul Gandhi the national president had first come from the Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee. Chhattisgarh is the second state from where such a proposal has been passed.

The process of national president election is starting from September 22 with the availability of nomination papers. Enrollment will start from September 24. Nominations can be filed till September 30 for the election of the National President. If more than one person files nomination, then there will be an election. The date of voting for this has been fixed on October 17. Counting of votes will take place on October 19. 

Madhusudan Mistry had said, if there is more than one candidate, then voting will be done in the office of the Pradesh Congress Committee in all the states of the country. Identity cards have been issued to the voters for this. Identity card has to be brought by the voters. Those who have a photo on their identity card, they do not need to bring Aadhaar card.
