Politics Heats Up Over Indi Alliance’s Vice-Presidential Candidate Sudarshan Reddy

Raipur – The nomination of B Sudarshan Reddy as the Indi Alliance’s Vice-Presidential candidate has sparked a political war of words. Chhattisgarh PCC president Deepak Baij said the BJP is rattled, which is why its leaders are making such statements.
Baij recalled that during the Salwa Judum movement in Chhattisgarh, the BJP government had handed over weapons like AK-47s to villagers without any training or official process. “The court had given a clear verdict against this. But today, the BJP is deliberately misrepresenting the issue,” he said.
He further reminded that the Supreme Court had categorically ruled that giving arms to civilians without training was unconstitutional. “Amit Shah should revisit that judgment. If the BJP had found the verdict wrong, why did its government not file an appeal before another bench?” Baij asked.
Baij accused the BJP of twisting history for electoral gains. “The Congress had welcomed the court’s decision, but the BJP is now distorting facts because its political arithmetic has collapsed. Such rhetoric will not benefit them,” he said, adding that attempts to tarnish the image of a Vice-Presidential candidate reflected the BJP’s frustration.
Bhupesh Backs Reddy, Counters BJP on Social Media
Former CM and AICC general secretary Bhupesh Baghel also hit back at the BJP through a social media post. Referring to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, he wrote: “If someone once declared ‘tadipaar’ (externed) can become the Home Minister of this country, why can’t a former judge of the Supreme Court become the Vice President?”
However, BJP leader and Chhattisgarh SIDC chairman Rajeev Agrawal responded sharply to Baghel’s post. “The person you call ‘tadipaar’ was honorably acquitted by the High Court and had not held any constitutional post or party presidency before that judgment. As a former CM, you should present facts correctly, the public expects this,” Agrawal commented.
BJP Terms Reddy a Naxal Sympathizer
The BJP, meanwhile, has attacked Reddy, calling him a supporter of Left-wing extremists. Party leaders said the Congress had insulted tribals by fielding him as candidate. Party spokesperson Dewalal Thakur argued: “Had the Supreme Court verdict against Salwa Judum not come, Maoism would have been eliminated by 2020. By nominating Reddy, the Congress has once again shown it stands with Naxals.”
Thakur added that the decision has angered the tribal community and demanded that Congress leaders apologize to the people of the state and the nation.
