Police arrest four in crimes against women within 24 hours in Raipur

Raipur
The Ganj police under the Raipur Commissionerate (Central Zone) have arrested multiple suspects in connection with crimes against women and minors within a 24-hour window. The operations were conducted following directives from senior officials to prioritise the safety and privacy of victims.
Arrests in sexual assault cases
Acting on separate complaints involving allegations of sexual exploitation under the pretext of marriage, the Ganj police used technical surveillance and traditional investigation methods to identify the accused. Both suspects were apprehended within a day of the FIRs being lodged. The police recorded statements and collected evidence to ensure legal proceedings follow due process.
Accused held from Raigarh
In a related case, a police team was dispatched to Raigarh district after receiving intelligence regarding a suspect’s location. Through inter-district coordination, the team arrested the individual and produced him before a court, which subsequently sent him to judicial remand.
Intervention in domestic violence
The police also intervened in a case involving a woman in a live-in relationship who reported physical assault. Officers registered an immediate complaint and took the accused into custody to prevent further harm to the victim.
Missing minor rescued
A minor girl, who had gone missing from the Ganj area, was traced and rescued within 24 hours. Following instructions from the Raipur DCP (Central Zone), the police launched a search operation immediately after the family reported her disappearance. After recording her statement and completing necessary formalities, the girl was reunited with her family.
The Raipur Commissionerate stated that the swift action in these cases reflects the force’s commitment to law and order and ensuring a secure environment for women and children in the capital.
