One Male Naxalite Killed in Intense Encounter with Security Forces in Dantewada

Raipur
In a significant operation against Naxal insurgency, security forces successfully neutralized a male Naxalite in an intense encounter in the dense forested region of South Bastar Dantewada district on Saturday evening. The body of the Maoist, along with weapons and other Naxal materials, was recovered from the site.
Acting on intelligence reports indicating the presence of 10-15 armed Maoists in the jungle and hilly areas surrounding the villages of Ikeli, Nelgoda, and Tumnar, the District Reserve Guard (DRG) Bastar Fighters launched a search operation. The soldiers, showing remarkable bravery, crossed the dangerously fast-flowing Indravati River to reach the target area.
During the operation, the DRG team faced heavy gunfire from the Maoists, who were determined to inflict casualties on the security forces. The soldiers, however, skillfully took defensive positions and retaliated effectively.

After the exchange of fire ceased, a thorough search of the encounter site led to the discovery of the male Maoist’s body, along with weapons and Naxal materials. Preliminary investigations suggest that the deceased was possibly a member of Platoon 16, though his exact identity is yet to be confirmed.
Authorities believe that several other Naxalites may have been injured during the encounter, though details are still emerging.

All security personnel involved in the operation returned safely. Further details about the operation and the ongoing efforts in the region are expected to be released after the completion of the operation.
